tocaya organica

Two groovy things happened yesterday. Sunday. I bought a new longboard and I rolled through to a new spot in Venice tocaya. Grabbed mine to go because the VBL(Venice Basketball League) had a few games going on.

Service was prompt. Food was hella fresh tasting. They definitely don’t use microwaves here.  I could have done without the  pomegranate and what looked like pumpkin seeds in my guac.. It was also cool seeing the chef Felix. He’s normally over at Toca Madera. tocaya organica is the new baby in the family. All entrees start off vegan. That’s a switch. You can add your choice of protein. Carnivores and herbivores do come hither. Tell em the bald longboading lady sent ya’.

Parked It At Lunch

I work inside all day. So it’s especially nice when I can pop out for some food and fresh air. Erewhon was in my sights. Decided to make the trek.

Light appetite. On the menu. Mock tuna. Brown rice crackers with a black sesame twist. A bottle of electrolytes. And a lovely lime tart. Plantbased baby! All day. Errrrrr…day.

Purple Yoga

As of late yoga playlists seem to have taken on a purple persuasion. It’s strange. Weeks before your passing I was listening to you on a daily. And now you’re gone.

I hate the celebrity tributes and calculated wording by publicists representing those who never represented you. I hate the coolness of others as they try to hip folk to that which is optimistic when really it’s just another post about themselves.

I weeped in class the other day because I’m still not ready to share my loss with strangers. Not in that moment. Not in that setting. Yoga didn’t help that day. Nor did I bend hope or expectation in an upward direction silently wishing for your return. I looked up anyway. You were not there.

So I carry you with me. Forever in my heart. No matter how heavy the vibe gets. I love you Prince…

Post Yoga Green

After yoga. Happy hour. The other one.  Post workout recovery vibe. Although I don’t view yoga as a workout. And never will. But that’s a conversation to be had on a Wednesday in the second month of June. Besides I’ve lent out all of the blue soapboxes for the day. Dig on your inner peace. There is no lease. Only life. Not channeling Buddha. More like booyah! I’m gon.’

Vegan Planet

It ain’t just about me eating meat or dairy free. Or looking lovely in a bikini. It’s so much bigger than that. Have you seen the world lately? Me neither. That’s because each day a little more of it disappears.

Greed, money and power make the world go around. Instead of love, sharing and working together to reverse man’s total disregard for the planet. No time to be sad because it’s true. Doesn’t mean there’s nothing we can’t do.

And what about the children? Whether they’re the ones with growing legs parked underneath your dinner table each night or others who have no dinner each night. Having a table seems hardly important if there is no food to eat.

It’s so much bigger than us. Can’t you see?

Strong Women Uplift

Strong women uphold other women. Although it’s Women’s History Month and today is International Women’s Day we don’t really need another marked day on a calendar to remind us of our power. Individually and as a collective.

Let’s begin to put aside our past grievances, swift judgements and daily criticisms. Friends, family and who you perceive as foe. It’s hurtful and pointless. We make ourselves stronger by pointing out another woman’s strengths as opposed to her weaknesses. Dig.

Lemon Water Every Morning

Been drinking warm lemon water every morning for years now. It flushes everything out from the day before and leaves my stomach feeling clean. Picked up this habit while living in New York. Queen Afua was droppin’ knowledge at the time. Brooklyn vibes. Now living on the west this still proves to be the best palate test.
