I look and feel better whenever I make my own lunch. True story. Found a go to green that I dig. Enjoy!
fresh lemon juice
I work inside all day. So it’s especially nice when I can pop out for some food and fresh air. Erewhon was in my sights. Decided to make the trek.
Light appetite. On the menu. Mock tuna. Brown rice crackers with a black sesame twist. A bottle of electrolytes. And a lovely lime tart. Plantbased baby! All day. Errrrrr…day.
Crazy downpour. Nonstop. Lunch vibes. Didn’t brown bag it today. Braved the rain anyway. Puddle dodging. Headed towards the land known as Veggie Grill.
Ordered my usual take on their Buffalo Bomber. I flip it into a spinach wrap and add avocado and tempeh bacon. Yukon gold fries extra crispy. No seasoning. Chris always makes sure my food comes out right.
Parked it underneath a heating lamp on the patio. Too much chitter chatter inside. Soul settled outside. Natural vibes.
Food arrived. Wrap was more massive looking than I last remembered. A few bites in I realized why. Kitchen had added actual tempeh instead of the much tastier bacon. All faux meat of course. Mistake still. I didn’t trip. Nor did I send it back. Ate the other half. Thought about the weekend. And nothing else. Besides the sun was now out.
Felt like a burger kind of day. Double fries too. Hope the day was good to you. Let’s have some fun Saturday. Yoga or swim? I can’t decide. Guess we’ll see which way the pillow is tossed come morning light.
Turns out my bowl of trail mix packed cereal wasn’t enough to kickstart the preworkout vibe on Wednesday. By the time I hopped off the second bus I was beyond hungry. Skated past the gym in the direction of PowerZone. Then I saw this sign.
Didn’t have to read much further. They had me at organic acai bowls. Popped into Rawberri www.rawberri.com where all things are vegan. Sustainable vibes abound. Score and score! Ordered a classic pitaya bowl after I learned that it was another name for dragon fruit. I’m all about question asking. Yes, I meant to phrase it that way.
Snagged a medium bowl. Didn’t want to risk swimming on a full stomach. Can I say it was awesome? Why yes you can. Okay, weird third person moment. But seriously it was bomb. Natural. Organic. It’s amazing how quickly the taste buds adjust to food in its proper state.
The vegan granola was exceptional, the coconut flakes crunchy and the fruit was fresh as hell.
Even the spoon was green. Literally and figuratively. Eco love. Shout out to the planet.
Had the most righteous swim afterwards. Didn’t feel full. Stomach felt clean. Live food energy fueled each stroke. It’s moments like this when I consider going fully raw as a vegan. Figuratively clutching bag of chips while having a Cookie Monster moment. Baby steps.
Places like Rawberri help to encourage the clean eating and cruelty free vibe. They do it in a way that’s not pretentious and that’s always cool. Like the sign says Good Vibes Only. Dig it. I shall return.
It’s all about that Cocowhip on my next visit. Vegan frozen yogurt y’all. Enough said.

New flavor alert. Brasil Nut. It was yummy. Most definitely will be duplicating the vibes on the home front. Pop in!
I love salads. Especially big ones. Like the ones served at Veggie Grill. Since I’ve started packing my lunch again I don’t frequent as much. But when I do I like to try something new. Drums pleassssse…
I give you the Quinoa Power Salad. Added some grilled chicken. Faux style. In case you didn’t know I was vegan. Dressing on the side. Hands down this is Veggie Grill’s best salad. Well made. Tasty. Most importantly it’s filling. Although I could do without the almonds joy.
Score! Winner. Ah hell, you get the picture. Download their free app. Rack up points everytime you visit. Get free food! I was not paid to say this. Not even in Mac N Cheese bro.
I’m inspired by so many things. Everything affects me. Although my time here is short lived it will be impactful. Ears plugged. Nice strumming. My heart now still. My spirit light.
An afternoon of writing. Disappearing acts before sunset. Board pushing past the marina. Beer with fresh lemon. Met some smiling people. Intrigued by the words on my jacket.
More to come…
Quick lunch. Veggie Grill. Didn’t need the cookie. Sugar ills. Need water. Suddenly I’m thinking in slow motion.
The Veggie Grill. I always seem to forget the ‘the’ 110 S. Fairfax Ave Los Angeles, CA 90069
